If you cannot find an answer to your question, please send me a text message or voicemail at (719) 464 - 1739, or email me at Lisa@BestFootForwardNursing.com. Leave me a message with your name and phone number and I will do my best to reply within a week.
I am a highly trained and experienced Registered Nurse and Certified Foot Care Specialist who is passionate about providing personalized care to each of my clients. I am not a replacement for your Podiatrist or Primary Care Provider. I am part of the team of professionals who can help you take care of your feet. Regular home visits will help you improve or maintain the health of your feet, spot problems sooner to report to your Podiatrist or Primary Care Provider, and learn strategies to care for your feet. I will spend time with you, between 30 and 90 minutes, to ensure your foot care needs are met to the best of my abilities.
During each visit, I will assess the health of your skin, looking for sores on and between your toes, on the bottoms of your feet, and around the heels. I will gently and carefully trim and file your nails, calluses and corns. At the end of your session, you'll enjoy a foot and calf massage (did I mention I'm also a Licensed Massage Therapist?).
Please send me an email at Lisa@BestFootForwardNursing.com, or send me a text message or call and leave me a detailed voicemail at 719-464-1739. I am not currently accepting new clients but will add you to my wait-list.
I will do my best to return your message within 1 week. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
The frequency of visits will depend on your individual needs and the care plan we develop together. I offer flexible scheduling options to ensure that you receive the care you need, when you need it. People tend to need a visit between every 6 to 12 weeks. More frequent care is important for people who are at high risk of developing wounds on their feet. At your initial appointment, we will discuss your risk level.
For home visits, the cost of service starts at $120 per visit if you are within 15 minutes drive of my office at 2524 W Colorado Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80904. Tipping is not expected as this is a medical pedicure. These visits are designed to assess and monitor your risk of having problems with your feet, and notify you so you can seek appropriate care to manage your risks. This is not just a toenail trim and file service. Please note that the service takes about an hour to 90 minutes to complete, depending on your needs.
Discounts are offered for bundling services (seeing more than 1 person at a location). An additional $20 will be charged for each 15 additional minutes driving time from my office at 2524 W Colorado Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80904.
I accept cash or check (preferred), Venmo, PayPal, Square Invoicing, and credit/debit cards. I do not accept or bill health insurance. I can provide you with a receipt with my NPI number for you to try and submit for reimbursement.
There are alternatives to home visits. Generally, if you are diabetic and have peripheral neuropathy, your health insurance will pay for routine foot care if you see a Podiatrist.
I will gently clean your feet with wipes containing aloe and vitamin E, and use alcohol disinfectant before trimming nails and calluses, and benzalkonium chloride disinfectant after trimming nails and calluses.
I do not soak your feet prior to trimming, as this can damage your skin and increase your risk of developing an infection. If you have very thick nails, I will use a chemical surfactant (imagine Dawn dish soap, but made specifically to be used on skin and nails) which softens them so I can more effectively trim them.
You should not experience any discomfort during your treatment, and I will work with you closely to ensure you are comfortable.
Yes! This is my specialty and is one of the differences between being treated by a foot care nurse and getting a general pedicure at a salon. Using a mechanical rotary sander designed for nails, I slowly and carefully thin and shape thick nails. This will help relieve pressure and improve your comfort wearing shoes, and will reduce the risk of catching your toenails on your socks and damaging them. While I generally can't make your toenails grow more normally, I can teach you about good foot health and I'm happy to help you manage them.
Absolutely. If you are under treatment of your wounds by a physician, I will need their permission to trim your nails. I do not remove or replace wound dressings, so foot and nail care may need to be coordinated with the person or home health company that is caring for your wounds.
I do not use colored nail polish on your nails. However, I do use clear polish nail hardeners to improve the health of nails that are either thin, have deep ridges, are crumbly, or tend to snag in socks. I only use this polish when it is needed, or if you request it.
I will gladly trim and file your fingernails as an add-on service with your foot care appointment. Please ask for this in advance so I can allow enough time to add this service. I charge $20 to add fingernail trim and file to your routine foot care appointment.
